What type of wine is pinot noir?
Pinot
Noir is a type of red wine grape. Some will argue this grape may
quite possibly produce the very best red wine. Pinot noir is grown
world-wide however most production is located in Burgundy, France.
The climate of this region meets the needs of the grapes required
for this type of wine.
Delicate and at times a difficult grape to cultivate, pinot noir
enjoys cooler climate with a need for extra special care. Pinot
Noir popularity grew after a recent Hollywood film had everyone
asking what
type of wine is pinot noir?
Of
all the types of wine, pinot noir can be a hard one to pin down.
With its ability to taste like many different types of wine, tasting
and describing this red wine can be difficult. A wine guide to
the different types of pinot noir wines may be a great way to
start. The textures, flavors, and bouquet can range from mild
to bold entrancing the senses with its powerful qualities. Fruity
undertones of currant or raspberry can also be expressed in this
multifaceted grape. Pinot is a much lighter grape than most other
wine grape types. A winery that chooses to grow this type of grape
will need to pay extra attention to the pinot noir.
California
ranks in first place in the United States for pinot noir production
followed by Oregon. The grape does show up in other states such
as New York. However, its one true home will always be France.
So critical is this type of red wine grape to France that in 2007,
they announced it was the very first fruit crop to have its entire
genome sequenced. With the recent sparks in popularity, growers
are looking for ever better ways to get this delicate grape from
vine to wine bottle.
